Over the river and through the woods...

We traveled north after Christmas. Where north you may wondering? To the very tippy top northern spot in the U.P. Houghton, here we all come! We packed everyone in the Friday after Christmas and we drove 12 hours with our 5 plus Gma and Papa Uitti! We all fit, our stuff fit, and everyone was great.
In Gaylord, stopping at breakfast at Diana's Delights. These 3 had a table all to themselves!
 Crossing the Mighty Mac!
We got in late but early the next morning decided to go over to Michigan Tech's campus to hike on their trails!

Tech was hosting a hockey tournament so we decided to get tickets to watch some of the games.

Special times with Gma U.

On the Harry Potter scavenger hunt for Christmas, Drew got a 500 piece puzzle. The U.P. is a perfect spot to solve a puzzle after a fun morning in the snow.
 We all took our turns...
Drew put in the last piece!
Playing Spot It! This is such a fun games that we love playing when we go to our favorite pizza spot in Rochester. They have different games you can play at you booth and Spot It became our family favorite. Here Elle is teaching Aunt Pam!
 We love visiting Aunt Pam!
Gift time!

Aunt Pam had mentioned that she has never done a gingerbread house before. Be careful what you say because wa-la! We gifted her a with a gingerbread house that came with 3 eager, little elves to help!
These 3 all snuggled up for the night.
The visits are always to short but here we are headed to Mackinac City for the night. Welp, going there no hiccups in the giddy-up. However, going home. not so much. It was like the big snow storm of the break. I was catching my breath but when a car spun out in front of us and thankfully into a snowbank and not into oncoming traffic I was pretty much holding on the rest of the way. When we got to the bridge, Ben put on the Bridge radio that tells you about the Bridge conditions etc. They basically were broadcasting to not go faster than 20 mph, stay in the right lane, and the bridge had icy conditions. Driving over it, I was like well, this is it. This is how it ends. BUT we made it over! The next day, the Bridge was closed due to ice falling from the raptors. The SAME ice that was forming while we were on it!

But we made it! We checked into our rooms and Ben and the kiddos took off for the water park! I was meeting them and has to walk outside to get to the park so this is what I wore. Swimming like a yooper!
Pizza and swimming made everything well in my world and we enjoyed the night!

Finishing up the drive the next day. Sleeping Drew still has my favorite pucker lips.
Zeile's over!
Drew took all his puzzles out one day and finished all of them!
This was a moment. A small moment but it felt big. Ellie asked to take down all of her princess wall stickers to replace them with her new Harry Potter stickers. Our sweet girl who wore princess dresses and tutus is now entering a new chapter. So bittersweet.
We wrapped up our Christmas break with our first family game of Scrabble! We all played, Drew was on my team. :)

We played for so long it went into the next morning...
Luke's shirt came off and we knew we were all in trouble!
Here is our first completed game! My favorite word...When Elle came up with keys on her own going off the letter tile "s". Smartie!

Merry Christmas 2019!

School is out! No work! All play!! WAHOO! We love break!

Hang tight. I posted LOTS of pics! I just want to remember it all.

Friday night we gave Ellie, Gma U., Aunt Cathy, and Gigi their Cmas gifts. We surprised them with tickets to see the Nutcracker that night at Macomb Community College! Elle has been asking to see The Nutcracker since last Christmas so we thought this would be a fun and special gift for all of them to see it together!

We invited our family to our Church's Christmas Eve service and then over to our house afterwards for dinner and a surprise Holiday performance.
Our row...
Aunt Cathy snapped this shot of my very favorite part of the service. I think it's safe to say it's everyone's favorite when the lights go out, the candles are lit, the music stops, and the candlelight and voices singing fill the room.
Sweet Gigi's hand and Luke. Love.
We had fun afterwards with dinner and these two surprised everyone with a Cmas duet! Luke has earned his black belt in Music class for his recorder skills. I mean, I remember learning Hot Cross Buns but all-in Luke can play Ode to Joy, Amazing Grace on the RECORDER! Anywho, they played Old McDonald together. Then Luke played Amazing Grace and Ellie sang on the mic. All 3 jumped up to sing a Cmas carol that Luke had practiced for his school Choir and Ben and Luke wrapped it up with an Encore.

Everyone loved it! Families make the BEST audience. 💗

We even had a little pregame with opening presents! " This is the biggest present I've ever gotten!" Elle, well all 3 of them, could NOT wait to open it!
Sweet Harlow joined in on the fun...A gymnastics mat from Uncle Tom and Aunt Cathy!
Mom U. surprised Ben and Megan with a copy of the book Twas the Night Before Christmas, the same book that their Dad read to them every Christmas Eve when they were kids. So special...

The kiddos gave their Christmas gifts that they had bought at their school's Secret Santa Shop. Gigi got a rose pen from Ellie!
Drew got his Paw Patrol Lookout Tower!
Christmas Eve day...Making reindeer food and cookies for Santa (and Bob Thomas and Mrs. Claus!).

Before going to bed on Christmas Eve!
Feeding the reindeer...
Leaving Santa his note, cookies, and milk...
Reading the real Christmas story first. Happy birthday, Jesus!

Reading Dad's new Twas the Night Before Christmas...
Christmas morning! Santa came!!
The morning started early for Ben and Luke. They are our early risers and it has become tradition for them to sneak downstairs and play some NBA jam before the rest of us wake up. We spent the morning opening presents and eating cinnamon rolls until 11:30! The morning really lasted and we had so much fun!

Drew asked for a blue whistle from Santa. I mean Christmas as a 4 year old is just the best!

Lukie got Elle this ring from the Secret Santa Shop!
Goldfish swim lessons from Papa and Gma Cooley!

A drone, LOTS of great books, Spiderman and rug from Auntie Nae!

Ben got me a family photo shoot. I was so excited, I had all the emotions.
We ended the morning with our last gifts to the kiddos. We had decided the night before to put together a scavenger hunt to surprise the kids with their gift of going to Harry Potter world! I think I figured out how to post videos again. We had so much fun watching them put together the clues!

We all met up at Gigi's house in the afternoon to celebrate!
Our sweet, beautiful Harlow.
Family time. 💜

Yes, Luke wore his HP cloak to Cmas dinner.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a goodnight!
