Indy Baseball Tourney=Family Summer Vaca

Luke had a baseball tournament originally scheduled in Iowa however, things changed, and so we were off to a tournament in Indianapolis! We turned it into an opportunity for a little family vaca to explore a new city. When life hands you a lemon, make....

Luke is living his best life! He was invited to travel down to Indy with a few of the bball guys and a few coaches in an RV. Oh, man. This crew played MLB The Show the entire trip! Coach crushed all of them turning "Big Luke" to well, "Little Luke". :)

That meant there was just the 4 of us in the mini! We all stayed at the Embassy Suites and t was the PERFECT spot for this crew. We had an unlimited free happy hour each night and made to order breakfast in the morning! Yes, please.
Cheers to family and happy hour!
We were able to get away for a day to spend downtown Indy as a family!
I had no idea but Indy has this cute canal that goes through downtown. Elle was all about the pedalboats so that's how we explored the city!
We all took turns "driving"!

We pulled the boat over to play at a park and had lunch at a hotdog stand.

Indy, you were cuter than I ever thought. Ben, you're pretty cute too.
Back at the hotel, this was how we spent our time between games. The Dads setup bags outside the hotel and because we all had our folding chairs for the games, we just used them here too. :) Lots of cornhole was played into the wee hours of the night.
The RV was parked next to cornhole and kids were in and out all day.
And to the side there was always some type of game being played by the players and ALL of the siblings. Here they are playing whiffle ball.
Getting the boys game ready with a big breakfast.
And yes, baseball was actually being played as well. We only got in 2 games and we split 1-1. The 2nd day of our tourney was cancelled due to rain.

Bringing 22 boxes of pizza to the hotel so the kids can eat and adults don't have to drive! (Happy Hour!)
Pool time of course...Oh, my ears. It was SO loud and the echoes...Eek!

The siblings are the best. They had so much fun too!

Breakfast. At a hotel. With buddies 💜
And they all love to cheer on their brothers!

We are...ELITE!
The team all rode together to the game so they could show up in the "team RV". So dramatic...but fun.
With the team flag in the back.
Indiana, we never really thought of you as a family trip, but you were worth it! The Morin Family can check this state off our list!

Summer...We've never needed you more!

We made it. Somedays barely...but here we are! Ben and I kicked off summer vaca with a date night for us. We hopped all through downtown. We started with drinks and apps at Penny Black, dinner at The Meeting House, and dessert at the Royal Park. It was so much fun! I wish we could do this every Friday night!

People were out and about too! We ran into friends, saw one of my friends at her rehearsal dinner and even one of my principals was downtown driving around the pub crawl bike thingy! It feels so good to be OUT and ABOUT!

Elle had asked to tryout for travel soccer. Oh my goodness. For a mama who vowed she would never be a travel mom...I'm really eating my words now. But, it's not about me, and Elle you go for it girl!! And she did! She scored 3 goals during the scrimmage of her tryouts.
ANNNDDDD, she made the team!! Now, we have 2 soccer players in the Magic Travel teams. We are so proud of you, Ellie!!!
Ben took the kids and Matthew to the beach.

All of us watching a movie together and I noticed our feet. Give me all of the cuddles!

Ben and I sending a milestone postage together.

Elle and Drew finished up their swim school lessons at Goldfish from Papa and Gma Cooley.

Having girls is the best. They are so happy, calm and content. Elle and Riley on the karaoke machine!

Riley came with us to Luke's game that night too.
We had to adjust a little this summer with al of Luke's baseball. So, I scooped up Elle and headed to TC! When I was leaving Drew said to me, " Mom, this isn't usually how we do this." Oh, Drew. It just pulled at my heart strings because he is right. We always go up to TC, all 5 of us together, and he felt the change just as much as I did. We have to function a little differently as a family now that our kids are getting older and they have more responsibility. 😢 I know this is part of our kids growing up, but we are now adjusting to other people having an impact on our family schedule.

Drew wrote/drew this chalk drawing for Elle and I after we pulled out of the driveway.

Girls day downtown TC!

AND the boys had a blast at home! Ben took the boys and their buddies to the beach!

Drew also had his last baseball game (reason why Drew had to stay back). Drew, you had a great season!! And as you can see from the clip below, he was known as the "big hitter" on the team!

Drew at his medal ceremony for the end of the season! Ben and Tony loved coaching together again.

Drew and his first baseball team!

Drew, congratulations on your 1st baseball season on the Blazers!! We are so proud of YOU!!

Meanwhile, the ladies got manis and pedis with Grandma!

Texted this pic to the boys as they were driving up to TC. Don't mess with Moms. Moms RULE.

Elle got a swim in by herself before they arrived.

And the boys arrived. Don't tell them I said this, but we were SO happy to have them!!

Happy Father's Day to 2 of the best!! We love you so much Dad and Ben!!

Playing Old Maid...

Matt and Linds happened to be in TC and we were so happy to see them and meet their 2 boys Ollie and Otis!

It was just a tad windy on the dock.

They are so stinking sweet when they are sleeping. 💙

Ben and Luke left TC on Tuesday am so they could get back in time for Luke's game while I stayed up north with Elle and Drew. Again. We have to shift with the times.

Uncle Chad and Harlow came to the game though to cheer Lukey on for us.

The rest of us went to Sutton's Bay for the day!

That weekend we all headed to Canton for a tourney for Luke. Below are some clips of Luke playing and of Drew doing his bat boy gig!

Luke, We are SO proud of you for pushing yourself carefully after getting your cast off! You are almost there buddy! Just don't you dare slide yet!

The baseball crew has really become close. We spend so much time together, it's hard not too! The great thing is, everyone has buddies to play with!

And Drew was asked to be the Bat Boy for the team....He was so excited!!

Chase came home with us after the tourney.

Elle rocking it at her gymnastics!

Papa came in for a night! Leo's after a baseball game.

Uncle B and Aunt Mol came in for a visit! We all went to Luke's game to cheer him on!

We had so, so much fun!! The next day, we went to the park, swam in the river, fed the ducks, and played all the sports! Look at these cuties 😍

This is our sweet Drew right here. Always prepared and ready to go!! He LOVES being ready! Here are his clothes for the next day. All laid out. (even his cup!)

Happy 4th of July!!

For the 4th of July we celebrated the kids with all the things. We started with McD's for them, subs for Ben and I, and we all ate on OU's campus by the clocktower.

We then drove to Clarkston and had ice-cream at Cook's Dairy Farm. It was their 1st time there!

Then we watched the fireworks in Clarkston. Our fireworks were postponed in Rochester so we had to travel a bit and do things a bit differently this year with just the 5 of us. But we had a blast! The fireworks were set off from the top of Pine Knob due to Covid, so we sat on the corner of Sashabaw and Clarkston just a few miles down from where I grew up. It was a little weird being a visitor in my own hometown but so happy we had somewhere to go to see fireworks!

Happy 4th of July, USA!!! This year, we have a lot to celebrate!

Luke REALLY wants a cell phone. And I will admit, he will need one for middle school. We asked him to create a presentation to try and convince us to get one. What do you think??
