Life with tubes isn't so bad!

Last week Luke had a long week filled with Dr.'s and waiting and surgery but he sure was a trooper! After 4 ear infections since February we decided for Luke to get tubes in his ears. He had the surgery at 7:30 am and we were so proud of him. We had to wake him up at 5:45 am to get him ready for surgery an hour before his 7:30 appointment....and he couldn't have anything to eat or drink until after the surgery. "Grandma Joan", his nurse, had prepped him and he snuggled in my arms watching one of his Baby Einstein videos until the Dr. was ready. Once he left he watched me over Grandma Joan's shoulder until he went through the big double doors but Ben was there to hug me and reassure me everything would be just fine. About 15 minutes later we were talking with the Dr. and everything went great! He said there was a lot of infected drainage in both ears so we were to expect bloody discharge for the next few days. Luke came back to me a little out of it but after a bottle of watered apple juice (his first juice ever because they had to make sure he could keep food/liquid down with the anisthetic) he quickly came back. :) He then downed all of his breakfast and began searching around his room. As he left he waved bye-bye and blew kisses to Grandma Joan and the staff. Such a sweetie. Later that afternoon he just happened to have his 1 year check-up where he had his 3 shots...long day BUT the tubes have already helped him so much. Most of the drainage has stopped but life with no ear infections has been pretty great. The pics on the blog are from his 1 year check-up as we forgot to pack the camera at 5:45 am. :)
Luke's Stats:

Height: 31 inches (90th percentile)

Weight: 21 lbs. and 12 oz. (25th percentile)

* Disclaimer: The week before Luke weighed in well over 23 lbs. when we went to urgent care however, becuase of his ear infection he didn't eat as much the rest of the week. We are happy to report he is making up for lost time!!! He'll be back in no time. :)

Head Circumference: 18 1/2 (75th percentile)

Luke got his first hairs cut from his Dad!

I LOVE this picture!

We kept it classy using our orange-handled craft scissors. :)
Trusting Dad to make it look good!

" Mom, I told you! No pics until it's all done. I wanna impress the ladies!"

Luke turns ONE!!!

Luke and Ben spoiled me on Mother's Day! I was able to sleep in AND I woke up to my 2 boys serving me breakfast in bed. :) Yummo!

After a fun-filled day of celebrating Luke, we were still in awe of his little handprints that were still imprinted on his cake.

SO happy that Auntie Janae could be with us to celebrate! Luke is loving his new car racing toy from his buddies across the street.

The masters of the table.

Very proud parentals!!! We love you Luke!

Cake #2...from Mummo to go with our "party anilmal theme".

Our little gift that we received one year ago!

Luke showing off his new kicks from his Great Aunt Jan.

A very content little boy.

Such a good sharer.

Thanks to the idea from Bing, Luke loved his Cool Whip frosting! He scraped it all off the cake to eat it and never even actually made it to the cake.

" If Mama approves then it's ok with me!"

Some of our favorite people...
Family.

We celebrated Luke's first year of life the night before on his actual birthday with just us. He loved his chocolate cupcake!

I love watching Luke push around his buddy. :)

Easter Fun-Filled Weekend!!!

We decided to give Luke his birthday gift early when it arrived to our house. We couldn't wait!!! Luke LOVES his truck! He can ride on it but he really likes to feel like a big boy and walk it all around. It his new mode of transportation that he uses to walk to anywhere in the house. :)

Mama loves you so much Luke.

Luke, the ol' pro, riding one-handed.
And he's off...

Ben teaching his son how to man handle his new truck!

Snuggled with Gramma.
Luke makes the sound affects with his trucks "Vroooom!" :)

After brunch we surprised Mom and Dad Cooley in Clarkston. The Easter Bunny left a truck just for Luke!

Easter morning! We were back at home and enjoyed a wonderful church service! Afterwards, it was back on the road to Ann Arbor to have a scrmptious brunch with Mom and Stan at Weber's!!!
Lovin' on Daddy and Mummo.
Our loving family...

Luke loved his Easter basket from Mummo and Bobo! Especially the 2 little trucks!

Luke keeping his eye on the bunny.

" Mama, I'm not for sure of that bunny..."

Luke meeting the Easter Bunny for the first time.

All cute and cuddled with Mol ready for our walk.

After our day in Kalamazoo we headed to Grand Rapids to stay the night with Brian and Molly!
Watching the ceiling fan with Uncle Brian.

Ben and I both had Good Friday off of work so we decided to spend time with our west side friends and family. :) We picked up our cousin Christine from Valley 2 and headed off to lunch at Burdick's with her and our friend Jared. We then spend the afternoon with Matt and Megan at the Kalamazoo Hands-On Musuem. Megan is so cute all pregnant with little, baby Harper. :) Afterwards we went out to dinner downtown with Amanda, Joe, Karan, Maria (all cute preggers with baby Carter), Jess, Matt, and Kai. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera at lunch and dinner but it was GREAT to see everyone and be back in the Zoo!

" What did the Easter Bunny bring me???"

Luke loves to put his rings on his toy! We all clap when he's done, even Luke.

Luke VERY excited to get his Easter basket!
" Where did Luke go??? Has anyone seen Lukie?"

Luke's big 11 month discovery was to point at everything and "say" it's name. Pointing at lights and ceiling fans with his finger are his favoties to name. :)

Luke is shwoing everyone just how tall he is...and you can see that MI is showing her first glimpse of spring outside. :)
