Papa and Florida Spring Break 2024

I got a call Monday morning the week before we were to leave for Florida for Spring Break. It was Mom and she called to say it was Dad. My heart sunk, the tears started, and I picked up and left work. I was able to get a flight that afternoon. I was able to see Luke and Ellie for a few to say goodbye, pack a few things, and I was on my way.
When I arrived to Florida, it was confirmed that Dad had a stroke. We have never walked this path before. It was so scary but to see Dad being all of Dad and nothing short of himself, brought us peace and hope.
Back at home Ben was a champ and holding it together for the kids the last week before Spring Break.

Janae and Freddy came in as well to be with Dad too! We snuck away while Dad was resting for a beautiful walk at Lakes Park.
I headed home to get the rest of my family and fly back down for Spring Break. While I was flying back to Detroit, Dad was released!
Doesn't he look great?!
Spring break!

Pickle Ball is our new fav!

On the bus to get to the ferry launch.
On the ferry!

And we are together. It doesn't get much better than this. Exhale.
Cheers to friends like family in Florida!

How are these boys so old?!

Always a big thank you to our Brangs and Bonos for taking us in!! We LOVE our time in North Captiva with them!!

Happy birthday, sweet Evie!!! We love you!

These two. They are convinced they just ran into a bobcat. Here they are telling us their tale. So sweet!

Saying hi to our manatee friends...

Oh, hello there...

Doesn't get much better than this. Till next time North Captiva!
We traveled back to the main land. Hopped back onto the bus to get to our car and we were driving back to the condo when Mom called and Dad had a 2nd stroke. He was being transported by EMS from the condo and we should meet him in the ER.
We sat quiet the rest of the way to the hospital. Our sweet Dad and Papa. We all prayed so hard.
It was confirmed Dad had a 2nd stroke and so he was back in the hospital. He was in good spirits though and was cracking jokes and speaking clearly. We were hopeful.

Happy Easter!! The reason for our HOPE!!
This year the Easter bunny pulled it together. It wasn't picture perfect but no biggie. It is perfect to us.

We stopped by to give our love to Papa in the hospital.
We headed home with gratitude, a new tan, a tad of exhaustion, and a lot of love and hope in our hearts.

Spring Break 2024, you didn't make it easy but you made it worth it.
