Birthdays and Bones

My 39th birthday and 24 days into staying home due to COVID. I am one lucky girl to have such a loving and fun tribe. I was surprised with breakfast in bed!

Well, by 9, Elle had a drone stuck in her hair. Freddy had taught Luke some new tricks on his drone the day before but Luke was trying all this inside our house soooo.....this.
Ben took the drone apart and a few snips here and there and Elle was back to distance learning in her Chinese class!
Yummy brownies for dessert!

Luke had been working hard on something downstairs and I hadn't been allowed to go down there. It was my birthday gift...A family game of Double Dare!
Luke was the game show host and had all of these fun obstacles that we had to go through. We had so much fun and we laughed so hard!
Ben and I battled in a round of Family Feud. Luke had the plumber pants game guy setup as the buzzer. If our answer wasn't on the board, we got splashed with water from the plumber.
Elle and Drew then battled with a hoop obstacle, as the host threw a large bouncy ball at them.
Then Drew and Elle battled it out in a pillow fight.
This next obstacle Ben and I laughed so hard. We had to dress up in these costumes, use the cart, and collect as many Jenga blocks as possible.

We couldn't really see, our hats were falling off, and we were battling it out!

Elle and Drew were up next...
Then the last obstacle we played over and over again because it was everyone's favorite! It was just those 2 bin, and a bunch of balls. Whoever got the most balls in their bin won!
There was tackling, shoving, dodging, rolling, flipping, tickling, swiping, tossing, you get the point and SO much laughing!

It was a wonderful birthday. I am the luckiest.

A few more artifacts from COVID that we'll remember...
New sign at the entrance of our park.
We have taken advantage of picking up food at our school...
 Sign on NC3.
That night we took a walk to the park and the kids on their scooters. On the way back, we had the kids try and scoot with a scooter on each foot!

All of this happens everyday in our house...just kids trying new things and having fun.

But leave it to falling off a stool to cause a broken arm. Poor Luke!! I was mopping our floors, which I rarely do! The kids helped me move the stools, chairs, and bench from the kitchen to the living room. I was getting water in the bucket when I heard a loud thud and, "Mom, I broke my arm!" I came out and found Luke curled up on the living room floor and stool toppled beside him. I didn't think he REALLY broke his arm. I told him he'd be OK and got him an ice pack but he said, "Mom, get Dad. I really broke my arm!" Ben examined it and sure enough Ben was like, "Court, he broke his arm." I couldn't believe. In the middle of a global pandemic and our child just broke his arm on our carpeted living room floor. Sweet Luke...I am so sorry buddy. I called our pediatrician and that's where Ben took him first. They couldn't do much for him and sent him over to Troy, Beaumont. Ben and Luke spent the afternoon there. Thankfully, there were Dr.s available, they were in their own wing of the hospital, and that they had the necessary medical supplies to heal our son.

Luke did after have a short procedure and went under when they had to reset his bones. He actually did break 2 different bones in the fall.
You can see in the left where the break happened and in the right what his arm looked like after his procedure!
 When he woke up.
They walked in the door at 3:40, headed straight for the shower/bath, and we were on time for Ben to host our first family Zoom.
Luke had a story to tell...We love you so much, kiddo. You are one tough cookie.

 These 2 snuggle bugs.
 Our new pet.
This little guy and I spent an afternoon completing a puzzle. Loved every minute of it.
It doesn't get much better than this.
Off to the park for another hike..
Our favorite time to go is when the driveway gate is closed so we have the whole park to ourselves! With all the cars gone, a game of red light/green light in the empty parking lot is a must.
 Our puzzle is done!
Music class this week was focused on percussion. This was one of our favorite music activities!

Our downstairs was transformed into a laser tag game. At night, we turn off the lights, turn on loud music, and play laser tag using the lights on the gun.
On that Wednesday, Luke got his cast on an he was so happy to have movement back in his elbow.
If you look close, you can see our neighbors have the kiddos' rainbows up in their windows...

Ben and Drew completed the next puzzle together.
We were off for a bike ride through town... Here we are with the Royal Park behind us.
Then we rode over to our library to play our first ever family game of 4 Square! We are now obsessed!

This little cutie is a ray of sunshine, just like his picture.
Ben did Art class and together they did foil painting!
A new park we checked out was over in Avondale. It was a sunny, crisp day and we loved checking out a new park in the area.
We even found tadpoles AND froglets in the pond!

Our favorite gal. We love you so much, Elle Marie!
Movie night and I so wish I could remember which one this was!
 Another successful nature scavenger hunt.
We all spent an afternoon on the official Harry Potter page. We were sorted into our houses, matched with our wands, and received our pets!
Drew....Gryffindor!
 Luke....Ravenclaw!
Elle....Ravenclaw!
Ben...Gryffindor! Court...Hufflepuff!

Look at this little sneaker...

And all 5 Morin's are officially on 2-wheelers! WAHOO!! Drew's first bike ride was all the way to Auntie Megs' and back...3.2 miles round trip! This little fella loves to ride! Ben took off our last bike seat. It was on the back of my bike and it's the first time I've ridden with no seat in the back in 9 years!
 Another hike through the woods...

Happy Birthday, Uncle Chad! We love you!
We decorated our car and stopped by the house.
I am officially back to work and have my little section in the basement setup.
Ben put up the hammock that Mom and Dad had given us awhile ago. The kids were so excited that Ben created a game and whoever won got to go in the hammock first! Drew got the ball in the bucket first sooo...
Drew is in first!
Then Luke!
And Elle!
The kids woke up before us and made homemade Jacque pancakes for us by themselves!!! All of that making it together has paid off my friends!!

These three amigos decided to start a band today! Luke on the guitar, Elle on the piano, and Drew on the Ukulele.
Teachers are just the best. Elle got the sweetest letter from her 2nd grade teacher. She got a few pics from the year, a pic of her teacher holding up a sign that says I Miss You, a word search with all of the names of the students in her class, a letter, and a card and addressed/stamped envelop for Ellie to write her back!
To end this post...This is Drew sick with the coronavirus and Dr. Ellie healing him back to health at the hospital. Thank you to our medical workers who are keeping us all healthy!
