Ben and I are fully vaccinated and we are ALL itching to go on a trip however, truth be told...We just weren't quite ready yet to put us all on a plane to Florida. Looking back, I am sure everything would have been fine. However, Luke was still in his whole leg cast, traveling with it didn't seem fun nor could he be on the sandy beach or go swimming. And, holding onto where we were at in this place and time...We just weren't there YET. So, we made the decision to spend Spring Break as a staycation and make the best of it!! Knowing that HOPE was just right around the corner.
Day 1: We spent the day at the park feeding the ducks!
Luke had fun putting the feed on the top of his shoe and letting the ducks eat off his shoe!
Spring Break is always a good time for REST! This sweet face gets me every.single.time.
Day 2...Of course lunch at Chick-Fil-A!!
My favorite southern hotspot...I may not be in Florida but I will eat as the Floridians do!
Day 3: Luke gets his cast off!!!
This was the day. The day we've been holding onto when the tough moments came. It was a 6 am appt. and although in my mind I pictured all of us being there with Luke to support him in his big moment, the thought of all of us waking up so early and then realizing that only 1 of us could go in anyway because of the Covid restrictions and the rest of would have to wait in the car...Well, only Ben and Luke went. However, we were sure cheering him on!! GO, LUKIE!! AND I basically had him sit in the bath for a full hour when he got home.

And then we were in the phase of the boot for the next several weeks.
Day 4: NONE of us laughed.
THIS is what we woke up too. Come on, MI! Show us a little love!
Elle bumped her head and she problem solved with this makeshift ice pack! Such a problem-solver!
Day 5: Easter Egg decorating!!
Day 6: We sold our car!
This was our first, big purchase we made together as a couple! We drove all the way over to the Grand Rapids area to pick it up because I just had to have a white car with tan interior. Ben and I were SO excited when we got it!! We promised that we would never even eat in the car! Welllll, that promise sure didn't hold up but we LOVED this car! She was with us for 14 years...She was a good one.
Day 7: Cousin day!
Elle LOVES reading to Drew and Harlow. I love her expression here and I love how Drew has her hand on his little cousin.
Last Day of Spring Break: EASTER 2021
This year we watched service from home, the kids had fun finding their baskets, and we had Ben's family over to celebrate. The day was so warm, sunny and beautiful!
Happy Easter, everyone!! He has risen...We all have the gift of hope!

The next day was Monday, of course. The kids went back to school... Ben and I had the day off! This was the BEST day! To have a buffer day between having Easter and starting a work week with just Ben and I...IT WAS GLORIOUS!!! We took a bike ride on the Paint Creek Trail and even though it started raining and we were soaked, it didn't matter because it was just us. We still got in an 8 mile ride and Ben made me the best omelet with red skin potatoes when we got home. So, nice.
With Ben working from home, we all LOVE it, plus he can help out every now and then! He was able to watch our sweet nephew Gavin, while Megs and Chad headed to Ford Field for their Covid shots. Look at this little bundle of love!!
He loves his Uncle Benny...
And with that Spring 2021 is in the books. 💛
